Democrat or Republican?

Over the past 10 years, I have spent a good amount of time wishing I hadn't made certain choices. However, recent events have helped me to take a more light hearted approach. My husband and I were both previously married. We did not have children with our previous spouses. We knew the day would come when we would need to explain this to them. However, we were waiting for our son, who is 10, to get a little older. Why? Because, he is so tender hearted we both felt it would bother him. We decided it would be better to wait till he was a teenager. Not a smart move. Jay, through a series of comments made by someone with a lack of filter, found out that his dad and mom(myself and danny) were previously married. He was crushed as suspected. After explaining the situation and lots of hugs going around, Jay decided to hang out with his dad in the garage. The girls and I decided to hang out in the house. So, Jay is in the garage with his dad. Jay says, "Dad, can I ask you a question?" Danny said, "Sure". Thinking to himself, oh boy here it comes. Jay's question, "Is she republican or democrat?"

A classic we will never forget. Our son is a classic and his heart is beyond any I have seen. I am forever grateful for the learning opportunities I receive daily from my three children.
